ROB ZOMBIE: Video Footage Of HELLFEST Press Conference

June 20, 2014

Rob Zombie and his guitarist, John 5, took part in a press conference earlier today (Friday, June 20) at Hellfest in Clisson, France. You can now watch video footage of the question-and-answer session below (courtesy of Riff-Mag.com).

As previously reported, Rob told England's TeamRock Radio that the American rock scene never recovered from the rise of grunge in the early '90s. Zombie explained, "When the grunge rock thing hit, with NIRVANA and all that, everybody thought it was cool to be anti-rock star. But in a way they sort of anti-rock starred themselves right out the door, because the rap guys came in and they said, 'Fuck it. We'll be the rock stars then, if you guys are going to wear flannel shirts and stare at your feet.' And in the U.S., truthfully, rock music has never recovered from that."

Zombie added, "A whole generation of kids thought, 'Fuck this! Rock music is boring. Let's go listen to rap music.' And it's never recovered."

Zombie is currently on a run of European festivals but will return to the States for a new round of summer shows beginning on July 17 at the Rock USA festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Zombie's first-ever concert film, "The Zombie Horror Picture Show", came out last month.

The singer and filmmaker has also been working on a new studio album, and plans to shoot his next movie, a horror tale called "31", this fall.
